Scags at 30
By Deborah Emin
The third in the 4-part series, Scags at 30 finds our eponymous hero living in New York City during the city’s financial crisis and yet working, living and loving as if all were well in her world at least. Yet, there appear out of her seeming normal life, a set of crises that propel her to make some very large decisions about who she loves, what she does with her life and what it is she really believes in. She has to make these decisions all before her 30th birthday.
Settling into a new relationship, new job and with many new acquaintances, Scags writes to Lauren, her best friend in the Scags at 18 story, who has become in more recent years her lover and now her correspondent. Told in as an epistolary novel, this advance from a diary to a letter format allows Scags to be answering questions and concerns by Lauren that compel her to describe and define her life in great detail.
