Help Our Books
Welcome to Sullivan Street Press’ Help Our Books page.
This page is where you can choose the book(s) you would like to support. By donating $50 or more, you help us cover the costs of production of the book. Once those costs are covered, the writer begins to collect royalties for each sale of the book. Your donation of $50 or more also entitles you to a free, signed copy of the book as well.
A Different Approach
Sullivan Street Press is up against how the larger publishers dominate our book culture. These larger publishing houses make larger promises to their authors than we can. They also dominate the shelf spaces in bookstores, the review spaces in journals because their sales are much larger than ours.
But we promise writers something else. We create for them a community that is there to support their books. Authors need these communities of readers who value their work and want to help make them successful.
Your help and the help of many others like you who want to make sure these wonderful books are produced will change the way publishing is done now. This can all have such a powerful effect on our society today where the value of ideas is downplayed while what is valued has merely a passing importance to how we live our lives.
As you can see from the books we are now asking you to help support, we are truly working to add value to all our lives. Paying writers for helping us to see better ways of living is a worthy goal, our shared goal, I am sure.
What’s Involved
For those wanting to know what those figures associated with each book go towards, here is a quick check list of all that must be paid for: cover design, typesetting and artwork; interior work includes design, editing, proofreading and typesetting; files for the conversion to e-books and the costs of the conversions; ISBNs, bar codes used to keep track of the sales by publisher; finally the books need to be hosted on our website. The total amounts you see reflect these costs.
Please be as generous as you can so that the work Sullivan Street Press has set out to do can be accomplished and the writers we work with can be paid. Thank you very much.
